Do Bollywood bombshells make a career move out of marriage or before marriage, they refuse to move their booty like they used to?

Industry insiders will tell you it’s both, depending on whether you are A, B or C, grade that is.

In league A when her engagement to Abhishek Bachchan was announced, Karisma Kapoor delivered duds (Shakti, Rishtey, Baaz: A Bird in Danger).

The industry’s interpretation is once the actress’s bump-and-grind bit was over, her saleability came to a grinding halt.

“She would not do jhatkas matkas any longer. She would not kiss like in Raja Hindustani, after her engagement, says film distributor Sanjay Mehta.

If it was chicken first in Karisma’s case, it’s the egg in Raveena’s.

The mast mast actress’s popularity headed downwards, even as the industry labelled her over-the-hill, much before the buzz around her marriage plans gained ground.

Mehta says Raveena was always in league B and her films already a flop (Stumped, Satta). Two of her films, Ek Hindustani and Ek Se Badkar Ek, are slated for release next Friday.

In the pipeline for years, both productions had problems finding distributors. The news of her engagement this week to film distributor Anil Thadani is unlikely to have any impact on her career now.

Pooja Bhatt, who also married this August, is in a different league altogether. Having almost quit acting, she has found success in film production.

Interestingly, all the three women veered towards serious cinema before deciding to wed.

Pooja gave it a shot with Zakhm and Everybody Says I’m Fine!, Karisma with Zubeidaa and Fiza and Raveena with Satta and Daman.

Now, Urmila Matondkar (Pinjar) and Aishwarya Rai (Chokher Bali) are headed the same way. And so far, it’s led to the altar.
