No cinema without gossip: Arya

CT gets talking with the “handsome young boy” of Kollywood, who's getting into the big league with Naan Kadavul…
No cinema without gossip: Arya
He's acted with actress Pooja in most of his films, thus spurring rumour-mongers go to town about they being linked up.
Spotted at a public function with actress Nila, local tabloids wrote many columns of a possible love pair.
Ask Arya if all these irk him and pat comes the reply - No way! When I read such reports, I'm glad that I'm still being remembered.

Without gossip, theres no cinema.
The actor is all praise for critically-acclaimed director Bala, whose Sethu and Pithamagan made quite a few heads turn. On the face of it, actors would say they won't do a film with him due to the time he takes for making a film. But every one of them would love to do a film with him. After all, he isn't wasting time but planning out his film, says Arya.
After passing hands, the prestigious project landed on his hands. Did he think he was too young for an expert filmmaker? Im really lucky to have got it; he's a taskmaster. He exactly knows what he wants from a scene. He knows when the eyeball is too big in the frame, when the tongue is out... everything, he adds.
For the 'role of a lifetime' in Naan Kadavul, Arya had put in a lot of effort. The most difficult task was to keep fit and learn yoga. "There's a scene in which I am required to stand on my head," he says. "I had only a couple of months to master that but it came off really well."

Suited to playing the typical love-boy roles, this film seems to be a stepping stone to the big league of acting. Knowing Bala's style of filmmaking and his ability to bring the actor out of the hero, this could well be Arya's acid test. "I could have done more than five films in the time I took for working on this film. But it's certainly worth the wait," he states. Sarvam, Vishuvardhan's film that will star Arya, will include the ingredients of love, action and tragedy.
Though most of his peers are busy chalking out plans to balance commercial and creative cinema, Arya has no qualms doing two-hero subjects. Only insecure heroes do only single-hero scripts, he lashes out. How long can we just have climaxes that showcase the hero's triumph over the villain, he asks.
Vikram was a small-time actor and dubbing artiste till Balas Sethu happened. Today, his career is examined as pre-Sethu and post-Sethu. Naan Kadavul might just do the same for Arya's career.
