‘I’m not looking at a sex bomb image’ says Nisha Rawal.
Nisha to mak Bollywood debut!

Nisha Rawal (TOI Photo)SHES a known face in the modelling world.
But acting is a different ball game altogether, says model Nisha Rawal. All set to make her Bollywood debut this month, Nisha means business. The titles spelt Hastey Hastey and not Haste Haste, she says. Nisha plays a bubbly Columbia University student in the film.

Does that mean she speaks with an American accent in it? The film caters to the Indian market. So my character doesnt really have an American accent. But the look has been worked on. So the character will look convincing, she says.
Shes seen the trials of the film and is happy. Of course, I couldve done better. But thats a feeling every actor has after watching himself on screen, states Nisha.
In retrospect, does she regret not choosing a big banner to launch her? Behind every actor theres a human being who has his or her own choices. Ill do big banner films too. But Im more particular about how the film portrays me. I wont do a film like Neil n Nikki wear those kind of clothes and speak that language, even if its a big banner film, she says.
Her launch will be followed by Raffoo Chakkar, Jack and Jhol and Pakro Pakro all of which are rib-ticklers. Isnt she scared of getting typecast? No, because its purely coincidental that all my releases will be comedies. But comedy, Im told, is difficult. And for me, the greatest satisfaction is when the spot boys and other crew members start laughing after I give a shot. People enjoy comedies. And ultimately, its about entertaining everyone.

But a hard-hitting film like Kalyug could have been her launch vehicle. She was offered Smiley Suris (who played Kunal Khemus wife) role in Kalyug, then titled Blue Film. But the title discouraged her. I dont have any grudges against the Bhatts. I mainly declined it because of the title. Im sure the Bhatts would have launched me in a grand way. But the film also required me to kiss, which I wasnt comfortable with, and am still not, unless its a film like Black, she reveals.
She also has issues with unnecessary skin show. But given her modelling background, isnt she expected to wear all kinds of outfits? What people dont understand is that there are genres even in modelling. I had a very girl-next-door image even in my modelling days and thats the kind of image I want to keep. Ive never really done a bikini shot. Im not looking at a sex bomb image. And now that models are doing well in Bollywood, filmmakers have more faith in them, asserts Nisha.
Has her non-filmi background been a drawback? Says Nisha, I was scared to enter Bollywood because of all that I heard about the casting couch, etc. And Im very sure the casting couch exists. But I havent encountered it. Nor have I gone begging producers to sign me. Im happy with the teams I have worked with so far and am looking forward to working with more such people.
So does she stand a chance to win the Best Debutante Award for this year? I have to give a fair chance in my mind to all the other debutantes. Id watch all the films of the debutantes this year. I dont know about awards, but Im confident that people will like me a lot, says Nisha.
