Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. Revisiting the times when the two spoke highly about their relationship

​Priyanka Chopra started dating American singer-actor Nick Jonas in May 2018. He proposed to her on July 19, 2018, a day after her birthday, in Crete, Greece. The duo got engaged in August 2018 in a Punjabi Roka ceremony in Mumbai. In December 2018, the couple married at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, in traditional Hindu and Christian ceremonies. In January 2022, the couple had their first child, a girl, via surrogacy. Today, on their 5th wedding anniversary, here is a look at the times when the duo talked highly of their relationship:

​In 2019, at Tina Brown's 10th Annual Women in the World Summit, Chopra said she had known Jonas for two years. She didn't always think her relationship with Jonas was going to end in marriage, and maybe that's her fault; she judged a book by its cover. The actress revealed that she is a wild child; she does whatever she wants, and Jonas always supports her. Priyanka also shared that she calls him 'Old Man Jonas' because he is such an old soul.

​Jonas told Vogue in 2018 that he saw her walk into the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, California, for one of their first few dates. And he feels an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding about this next chapter of his life. Nick said that a few days later, he called his mom and said he was going to marry her.

Speaking with Insider in September 2019, Jonas said that their schedule this early on in their marriage was kind of unexpected, the tour extending as long as it has, but she's the best teammate in all that. The support that he feels from her gives him all the encouragement and strength, in addition to the fans being so amazing, that he needs to get up there and do his thing every night.

​In 2018, Jonas revealed to USA Today that they are always real with each other. He said that you have to be honest with your other half. That's where the beauty of a real relationship lies—being able to be your authentic self. He has that in his life now.

In 2019, Chopra told India Today about how Jonas handled the logistics of wedding planning. The actress said that Jonas used to sit at home while she was on the set and decide who was sitting where, using seating charts and rooming charts, and he would do all of that so that the actress could focus on the movie.

Priyanka Chopra revealed in the Hindustan Times in 2019 that they have a major rule: They don't go more than two or three weeks without seeing each other. She explained that wherever in the world they are, they keep in touch and video call all the time. It's important to make the effort to have the other person involved in your life. They do that.
