Shyam Benegal’s Sheikh Mujibur Rahman biopic, 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation,' an India-Bangladesh co-production about the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be released in October.
On Saturday, NFDC announced the release date of the film, which was extensively shot in both countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I’m sure the story of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his journey to create the Nation of Bangladesh will resonate with people and communities across the globe.
It has been an honor to be able to tell this inspiring story of the Making of a Nation,” said Shyam Benegal at the TIFF screening.
The film is a Bangladesh-India co-production between the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation and India’s National Film Development Corporation.
'Mujib: The Making of a Nation' has been filmed in Bengali, and Shyam Benegal has also cast Bangladeshi actors in the film. In an interview, Shyam Benegal said that as the film was going to be in Bengali, it was best to have Bangladeshi actors.
The film was shot across the country and Bangladesh during the pandemic. The trailer of 'Nation' was unveiled at Cannes last year."
