2024 has been a wonderful year for Bollywood with many new faces, and these fresh faces have rightly taken all the viewers' hearts by storm with their extraordinary talent and unforgettable performances. Well, these debuts did not only bring in acting prowess but also created a landmark for films as well as web series.
Singer Lisa Mishra marked a tremendous OTT debut in the movie 'Call Me Bae.' Lisa's character spoke to the present audience, a modern, independent girl dealing with complicated relationships in life. Famous for her beautiful voice, she made it through acting, courtesy of appreciation from all and her capability to strike the perfect balance of humor and emotional depth, which is rare in OTT. Phaneendran Lakshya Lalwani was phenomenal on debut in the action thriller 'Kill.' His intense portrayal of a complex protagonist in this Karan Johar-backed project was appreciated for its intensity, be it some very seriously impressive fight sequences or his vulnerability. Lakshya's dynamic performance broke the mold of typical debuts, and he might be part of action hero material, earning him colossal recognition for his dedication to the craft and range.
Nitanshi Goel was pretty great in her debut feature as well, 'Laapataa Ladies,' in which the young bride navigates rural patriarchal life. This was directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan. She is so good here. She shows so much emotion and connects up with the audience. Rishabh Shawney was bold and aggressive in 'Fighter,' starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, in his first villainous character. The viewers, as well as critics, are in love with his sizzling portrayal of a menacing villain, introducing himself that newcomers can do any complex, non-hero stuff and win.
In exactly the same way, as a Gujarat cinema star, Janki Bodiwala delivered one powerful act in Bollywood debuts with the gripping crime thriller 'Shaitaan.' She was convincingly moving as a main character in the intense drama, getting her noticed and proving that regional talent can make a big impact in Bollywood. Finally, last but not least, Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan, debuting in the period drama 'Maharaj,' acts as a journalist to bring corruption in the newly independent India under the limelight. At the helm is Siddharth P. Malhotra, and maturity combined with a sense for the historical subject in the work of Junaid makes one hopeful for the future generation.
With these six fresh faces, 2024 stands out as one of the most memorable years for Bollywood, making a case for how new talent can storm the industry and rewrite the rulebook for the debut experience.
