I will only do lead roles now: Raima

Raima Sen will not play the sidekick in Hindi films anymore, she tells TOI.
I will only do lead roles now: Raima
Raima Sen, she of the doe-eyed looks, has had the privilege of being born in a family that boasts of a handsome lineage.
With Suchitra Sen for her grandmother and Moon Moon Sen as her mother, the pretty actress has had advantage over others. But unlike star sons or daughters who have managed to make a mark for themselves in the Hindi film industry, Raima is still to be accepted whole-heartedly as a lead heroine.

And even though she was appreciated as Vidya Balans friend in Parineeta or as the submissive Ashalata in Chokher Bali, as a leading lady, Raimas still finding a footing in the industry. All that was a thing of the past, says Raima, Its all changed after Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Now Im only playing lead roles in films like C-Company and Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye.
Bollywood aside, Raimas become a regular feature in Bengali films. The ladys awaiting the release of her film Khela directed by Rituparno Ghosh where she plays a costume designer.
The story revolves around a director who wants to make a film on a child actor and Raima plays the childs costume designer, who develops a crush on the director. The problem? Well, the director (played by Prosenjit) is married to Manisha Koirala. This movie is not a typical Rituparno film, explains Raima, Its a fast-paced and has a lot of music. Raima will be seen sporting a casual look for the film, with a lot of big bindis on her forehead. Its a very Bengali thing. In fact, it was Rituparno who used to draw those bindis on my forehead every day of the shoot. He loves dressing up his heroines, she reveals with a laugh.
The actress was in news recently when a section of the media reported about how Randeep Hooda had a problem with her on the sets of Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye. Raima however refutes the claim. There was no problem at all. Randeep didnt throw any tantrums on the sets and we didnt share cold vibes at all. He has been very sweet and cordial with me, she adds.
