Neena Gupta recalls being kicked out of aunt's house after daughter Masaba Gupta's birth: 'I had nowhere to go with the baby'

Neena Gupta moved to Mumbai in the 1980s and never rented homes, choosing to sell and upgrade instead. During one transition, she stayed with her aunt, who abruptly asked her to leave at night, leaving Neena and her daughter homeless.

In an episode of a YouTube show, Neena shared that she had purchased a three-bedroom flat in a new project. After selling her home and investing the money in the property, she faced financial challenges and had to stay with her aunt and uncle temporarily.



Reflecting on her past, the actress revealed that she once stayed with her aunt, who helped care for her daughter, Masaba. However, one night, her aunt unexpectedly asked her to leave, leaving Neena stranded with no money and nowhere to go with her baby.



Neena shared that her uncle had a change of heart and allowed her to stay in an empty flat in Juhu. She explained that before moving in with her aunt and uncle, she had informed them about her situation, and they initially agreed. Later, her uncle, feeling guilty, arranged for her to stay in an unused Juhu flat that had been shut for 20 years. Despite cleaning the dusty, cobweb-filled space with her baby, she was eventually asked to leave that house as well.

With nowhere to stay, Neena approached the builder she had paid for her new home and explained her dire situation. She requested a refund to buy a ready-to-move-in house. The builder returned her money in full, without deducting anything, as she shared gratefully.

In the 1980s, the actress was in a relationship with West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. In 1989, she gave birth to Masaba Gupta and raised her as a single mother since Vivian, who was married, chose to stay with his wife. Neena married Vivek Mehra in a private ceremony in 2008.
