Nawazuddin Siddiqui says his daughter Shora is a moohphat, never hesitates to criticise him: 'The best part is she is not in awe of me'
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has won acclaim for his versatile performances in films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Raees and more. Now, his 15-year-old daughter Shora is preparing to follow in his footsteps and step into the world of acting. In a recent interview with The New Indian, the actor opened up about his bond with his daughter and how she never hesitates to criticise him.
‘She is not in awe of me’
Speaking about his bond with Shora, Nawazuddin said, “I am more attached to my daughter. I yell at her sometimes, but she is very dear to me. She studies in Dubai and she is a moohphat (straightforward). She criticises me. The best part is she is not in awe of me. She doesn’t care that her father is a great actor — in two minutes, she can criticise me.”
Revealing how Shora often pulls him up, he added, “Mujhe zameen par laa deti hai (She keeps me grounded). Meri kuch aadatein hain jispe voh mujhe suna deti hai (I have some habits for which she scolds me). She hasn’t even watched many of my movies.”
Shora’s acting aspirations
In July this year, Nawazuddin had shared a video of Shora performing a short English scene with another actor. The internet lauded her performance and dialogue delivery, with many noting that she seemed to have inherited her father’s craft. The actor has previously revealed that Shora is keen on becoming an actor and is undergoing training to hone her skills.
On the work front, Nawazuddin was last seen in Costao. He will next be seen in Thama, a horror-comedy from Maddock’s universe, also starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Paresh Rawal. Directed by Munjya filmmaker Aaditya Sarpotdar and written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew and Arun Fulara, the film is said to be set across two time periods, with Nawazuddin playing the antagonist. Thama is slated for a Diwali 2025 release.
