Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently shared his thoughts on Bollywood, criticizing the industry for focusing more on glamour and star power than real acting talent. In an interview, he compared this to South Indian cinema, which he praised for valuing true acting skills over just celebrity status.

The 'Talaash' actor stated that there are two types of actors, industry stars and genuine performers. While audiences prefer real talent, stars are often promoted more and continue to land big-budget films, even if their box office performance doesn't always deliver.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Nawazuddin Siddiqui pointed out the difference between South Indian cinema and Bollywood. He said that South films, which often earn ₹500 to ₹1000 crore, feature actors who are also talented performers. In contrast, he believes Bollywood invests in stars who don’t match the skill level of South actors. According to him, these Bollywood stars are heavily showcased with flashy songs, choreography, and action, yet their films still don’t guarantee success.

Nawazuddin Questions Bollywood’s Big-Budget Choices

Siddiqui further said that if big stars can’t guarantee box office success, then why make ₹100 crore films with them? He pointed out that even trained actors don’t come with a guarantee, so it makes more sense to work with them. He praised South cinema again, saying its strength lies in the fact that the lead actors in ₹500 crore films are also skilled performers.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently appeared in 'Costao', a crime thriller streaming on OTT. The film is based on the life of a former customs officer, Costao Fernandes. Despite facing legal trouble due to a civil defamation case filed by former Goa Chief Minister Churchill Alemao in a South Goa court, the film was released as planned.
