Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his family have been placed under a 14-day quarantine at home after they reached their hometown Budhana in Uttar Pradesh to celebrate Eid with the extended family. As per sources, Nawaz had taken permission from the authorities in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to travel from Mumbai to Budhana by road, along with his mother, brother Shamas and sister-in-law last week.

They arrived in Budhana – which falls under Muzaffarnagar district – on May 11 and were all tested for COVID-19.
The family underwent screening at 25 places en route as well. “Their tests have come back negative. But they will still remain under quarantine at home till May 25 as per protocol,” says a source from the Muzaffarnagar district administration. This means that in the end, Nawaz may have to celebrate Eid in quarantine as well, as the festival is likely to fall on May 23 or 24 this year as per the lunar calendar.
