Nandita Puri reveals Om Puri's last wish

It has been more than a year since Om Puri bid us farewell. The actor had passed away on January 6 last year, following a heart attack at his Andheri home. However, he continues to live on in his loved ones’ hearts.

On his birthday today (October 18), Nandita Puri, who was married to the late actor, revealed his last with to a daily. Talking to a publication, Nandita said that he wanted to start a gurukul in his Khandala farmhouse. And, he didn’t want to teach just acting in this gurukul — he wanted it to be a holistic experience for 10 deserving students each year, where they would also indulge in farming, exercising, yoga, music and cooking, and try living a compassionate life.

Nandita also recalled how Om never fancied lavish birthday celebrations. He would spend most of his birthdays working. However, he was particular about one tradition — having home-made kheer. It was a tradition started by his late mom, and Om never wanted to miss it. The other never-missed traditions were a telegram from Danny Denzongpa, a letter from the late Sunil Dutt and a message from Hrishikesh Mukherjee, on the answering machine.
