Nandita Das acting pricey?
The Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) has blamed actress and CFSI chairman Nandita Das after losing his job – alleging that he was sacked because he asked Das to travel in Economy Class on an official trip.
Sushovan Banerjee, who had joined as the CEO in September 2009 was asked to leave in April this year. He then filed a case in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) against the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ministry of Home Affairs, saying he was given no reasons for being sacked.
When the CAT tribunal ordered CFSI to hold Banerjee’s termination orders, CFSI replied saying Banerjee had been asked to leave after he had “insulted” the chairman, Das, thus affecting smooth administration.

To counter these allegations made by the CFSI, on June 22, Banerjee filed another application in court, this time explaining that the perceived insult had been asking Das not to travel in business class. He also states that by asking Das to travel Economy, he was merely sticking to the guidelines of the Congress party’s much-publicised austerity drive. Banerjee’s advocate Sandeep Mane refused to comment on the matter as it was sub judice.
