Namrata's big wish: A film with Mr Bachchan

this particular beauty queen seems to believe in the ''slow and steady'' motto. she''s got such films as pukar and vaastav to her credit and has some great films in the pipeline. namrata shirodkar is merely bidding her time before she makes that all-important leap in the numbers game. here she spills on her forthcoming films. what is your forthcoming film dil vil pyaar vyaar all about? dil vil pyaar vyaar is a romantic musical directed by anant mahadevan and it has madhavan opposite me. it''s being produced by viveck vaswani and metlite corporation, and is a tribute to the late r.d. burman. we''ve taken twelve of r.d. burman''s greatest hits and converted them - with the same tunes and lyrics - but rearranged by his composer, bablooda. it''s an attempt to show how r d burman would have made those same songs today. but they''re not remixes. they''re very simple melodies like his original songs, but the instrumentation is slightly different, without those jhankar beats that you find in today''s music. you seem to have a penchant for realistic films. isn''t it true that you are doing a film based on a true story? yes, that''s bandhak. it''s inspired from the true story of an ias officer''s wife who gets raped and it''s about how she fights for justice, how in spite of being a government employee, the husband can''t get her justice and how the woman decides to fight it out. it''s a slightly off-beat film, but it also has its commercial elements. we''re trying to keep it as real as possible, since it is an adaptation of a real life story. the film is being directed by shrey who has a theatre background, and is being produced by showmen international. sanjay suri plays my husband in the film. aren''t you doing a couple of films with mahesh manjrekar as well? yes, there''s pratibimb which is a sequel to vaastav. sunjay dutt plays the son of the character he portrayed in vaastav, and since i was his wife earlier, i play the mother''s role in the sequel. but i want to clear this categorically - you will never see us in the same frame together. the mother-son relationship is either only spoken about or shown only in relativity where he''s talking about me or i''m talking about him. and whatever you see of me is with a small child like you saw in vaastav. after that you will see me with a slightly grown up child - who is still not sunjay dutt. the moment sunjay dutt enters the scene, my character kills herself. then there''s also another film with mahesh titled kutumb which hasn''t started as yet. it''s based on the hollywood hit godfather and is being produced by feroz nadiadwala. it has amitabh, akshay and abhishek in it. i play amitabh''s daughter. they''re looking for another girl as well. kutumb is said to be the entire godfather series rolled into a single film. is this true? i don''t want to divulge the story at this time. you''ll just have to wait and see. all i can say is that it is an excellent script. like when vaastav was being made, everyone said it was similar to satya, but when the film finally released, it was completely different. are you excited about working with amitabh bachchan? i''m dying to work with mr bachchan. that''s been my all time dream and i am really excited about the project. it''s a dream come true. any more films in the pipeline? there''s an untitled film with sunil shetty which tinnu verma is directing for producer yusuf bhatt. it''s a thriller, a murder mystery. i play sunil''s wife. also, there''s another untitled film, which is being produced by reelife entertainment for shrabani deodhar. this one is based on a law firm. it''s got raveena, vinod khanna and me as the principal characters. there''s also purab ki laila, paschim ka chaila which has been under production for a long time. there''s some problem with that film but hopefully it should be released by next year. sunil shetty and akshay kumar are part of the film. i play a village girl.
