Will Yashraj Films have to give up the title Laaga Chunri Mein Daag?
Producer Himanshu Joshi and director Sripati Mishra have filed a case against Yashraj Films saying that they had registered the same title much before Yashraj did Yashraj Films is facing problems with the title of Laaga Chunri Mein Daag A journey of a woman. Now we hear that producer Himanshu Joshi and director Sripati Mishra have filed a case against Yashraj Films saying that they had registered the same title much before Yashraj did.
Himanshu Joshi of Bhoomi Shree Pictures says, We had registered the title much before Yashraj got it. In fact, we will start shooting soon.
We had been planning the film for a long time and it is really annoying that YRF is going ahead with the title. Director Sripati Mishra says, Just because Yashraj is a big banner, they can’t do this to us. We have already recorded our songs with Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Richa Sharma. Our story is that about three sisters and we have almost finalised the casting. However, YRF has offered us Rs 1 lakh to give the title to them. But we have refused.
The only difference in our titles is that they have added a tagline, ‘journey of a woman’, to it. We are ready to fight a legal battle and will not give away the title so easily. We have sent them a legal notice. However a source in the Yashraj Flms, says, We haven’t receive any legal notice. But yes, they have issued a public notice in one of the trade magazines. We have always maintained that out title is Laaga Chunri Mein Daag A journey of a woman, not merely Laaga... Meanwhile, when contacted Yashraj Films sent us an official statement which says, The title of our film is Laaga Chunri Mein Daag -A journey of a woman, as approved by the concerned authorities. Our publicity will also have this title as decided. We will not change it.
