Days after calling Vivek Agnihotri's film, 'The Kashmir Files' as 'vulgar propaganda', Israel filmmaker Nadav Lapid has now reportedly apologised. Nadav said that his 'aim was never to insult people or their relatives'.
Talking to a news portal, Nadav said that he didn’t want to insult anyone, and his aim was never to insult people or their relatives, who have suffered. The filmmaker went on to say that he deeply regrets how they interpreted his words. He also went on to say that he spoke on behalf of the entire jury. His comments weren’t just his but also represented the thoughts of his fellow jurists, Nadav told CNN-News18.
Earlier, in an interview with the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz, Nadav had said he stands by his remarks as he "knows how to recognise propaganda disguised as a movie".
Nadav made the comment on 'The Kashmir Files' at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa on November 22. Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and many others criticised Nadav's comments on the film.
'The Kashmir Files' narrated the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley during the early 1990s. The film, which was released on March 11 this year, went on to do record-breaking business at the box office. The film starred Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others.
