R Madhavan is one of the finest and biggest names in Indian Cinema having worked in Hindi, Tamil and Kannada industries. He began his acting career in television with shows like Banegi Apni Baat, Sea Hawks, Jamai Raja to finally moving to films. He is currently seen in Ashwini Dhir’s Hisaab Barabar, where he takes on a banking fraud as a banker tries to fleece his customers .



In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the actor was talking about his investment philosophy and his poor experiences with his investments. He shared , “ When I did my first film Alai Payuthey, I was paid Rs 30 lakhs for it, and like a middle class boy, my father asked me to invest in this particular scheme and I did. And the very next day the scheme ceased to exist and the money I earned from my first film was stuck… Rs 30 lakh is a huge amount even now.”



He also shared that he does not keep a rupee by rupee of all his expenses . He said , “ I’m not happy with numbers, I’m an artist. So I do know mota-moti where the money is going, but my wife (Sarita) is a blood hound (laughs) , she will make sure everything is accounted for .”

“ Your investments and how you spend, depends on your age and your outlook . A lot of people believe in saving for a long time , for me, the purpose of money is lost if it is not helping me garner the new experiences that I’m yearning for, ” he added.



Madhavan will be next seen in Dhurandhar with Ranveer Singh where he reportedly plays NSA Ajit Doval, he also has De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh.
