My career is now taking off: Tanishaa

Tanishaa speaks about her family, career moves and lack of friends in the industry.

She tells NT what went wrong between her, Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy on the sets of Kumar Mangat's film 123.
Catfight on the sets
The latest gossip making rounds in the film circle is that Tanishaa is not getting along well with her co-stars Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy, and that she recently broke down on the sets leaving everyone shocked.

Coax her to speak on it, and after a brief pause she adds, "I personally don't have a problem with anyone. But others seem to be having problems with me, and I don’t know why. Is it compulsory to be friends with your co-stars? After all we are just working together."
Proud of lineage
Unlike other newcomers with filmi background, Tanishaa is proud and comfortable talking about her lineage. She says, "My family is my identity. Even if I want to have my own standing in the industry, I will always be known as Tanuja's daughter, Kajol's sister, Ajay Devgan's sis-in-law, Rani's cousin and Nutan's niece.

And I am proud to have such a lineage." But despite such an impressive background and quite a few years in the industry, Tanishaa is yet to find a foothold for herself. To this she replies, "My career is now taking off. I have a meaty role to play in Ram Gopal Varma's sequel Sarkar 2, where I have been cast as Abhishek's wife. That’s all I will say as I am very superstitious when it comes to talking about my future projects."
Gelling with Abhishek
Ask her how was it working with Bachchan Junior for the second time, and she is all praise for him. "Abhishek is simply amazing. I had worked with him in Sarkar, and now we are once again working together after three years. I think he has matured as an actor. Though everybody says that he is a prankster, he was quite a gentleman on the sets of Sarkar 2, " she says in her peppy style and immediately attributes this to Big B, "Probably, he was at his best because his father was present on the sets."
On relationships
Not so long ago, Tanishaa and Uday Chopra were romantically linked. There was a buzz that the two were about to tie the knot. Ask her to speak on this and all she says after a long pause is, “I just don't want to talk about the entire thing.” But it is obvious that her family is her biggest support system.
"I am very close to my mother Tanuja and sister Kajol, but I share a special bond with my brother-in-law Ajay Devgan and niece Nysa. My niece is my jaan and whenever I need any advice on my career or anything else, I just call up Ajay," she says.
