'Munjya' vs 'Kalki 2898 AD' at box office: Director Aditya Sarpotdar feels it is 'massive but Rs 100 crore is possible'

Aditya Sarpotdar, director of 'Munjya', discusses the potential of his film reaching the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, despite the high-profile release of 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Starring Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh, and Abhay Verma, 'Munjya' started modestly but gained momentum through positive social media buzz. Director Aditya Sarpotdar cited word-of-mouth as pivotal, emphasizing the film's grounded storyline for its audience acceptance. He expressed confidence that 'Munjya' would hold strong against the 'Kalki' release due to its resonant narrative.



Aditya acknowledged the competitive challenge posed by the Prabhas-starrer 'Kalki', describing it as a massive film likely to impact their box office performance. Despite this, he believes 'Munjya' follows a distinct path, relying on strong word-of-mouth to sustain its earnings. Aditya remains optimistic that 'Munjya' will surpass Rs 100 crore in India, having already earned Rs 89 crore by Wednesday, with expectations to secure an additional Rs 11 crore despite 'Kalki' releasing the following day.




'Kalki 2898 AD' has garnered strong advance ticket sales, buoyed by its star power and the unique blend of science-fiction and Indian mythology. It has already sold over 1 million tickets in India, eyeing an impressive worldwide opening gross of Rs 180-200 crore. The releases 'Munjya' and 'Chandu Champion' currently in theatres are anticipated to face significant impact from 'Kalki 2898 AD's release.
