Casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who made his directorial debut with Dil Bechara, recently opened up about how his late friend Sushant Singh Rajput's dedication towards his work was misunderstood as arrogance by people when he started rejecting projects out of his professional commitments.

We all know that Sushant was pretty excited to work with director Shekhar Kapur in Paani. However, the movie was shelved after Yash Raj Films backed out of the project.

At a recent event, Mukesh revealed that Sushant said no to many films just because of Paani. But people thought that he has become arrogant after becoming a big star. He said that Sushant was genuinely very happy when he was confirmed for Paani.


"He said no to so many films just because of Paani. Logo ko laga ki woh star ban gaya hai toh isi liye he was acting arrogant, but he was genuinely happy and excited about the film. Everyone wants to work with Shekhar Kapur. I was there when he was confirmed for the film. Jaise bacche ko khilona mil jaata hai aur woh khush ho jaata hai, waise hi he was very happy after the news. Unfortunately, the film didn't happen," Mukesh said.

After Sushant's untimely demise on June 14, 2020, Shekhar Kapur had shared in a tweet that he knew the actor had been depressed for 6 months and hoped he could do something about it. He had also talked about Paani and said that he will dedicate it to Sushant if the movie ever gets made one day.
