'Mohabbatein’ fame Kim Sharma on societal pressure of marriage and kids: "I want to see which children are pressing the feet of their parents in their old age"
‘Mohabbatein’ actress Kim Sharma shared an insightful perspective on societal pressure. The actress thinks following the norms and playing traditional roles in marriage is completely unnecessary.
In an interview with Kunickka Sadanand, Kim said, ‘Marriage is a concept.’ There was also a joke as to how many people one can marry, to which the actress said to as many as you want. She continued, "This is societal, this is a pressure that (you) stick with one person, do this, make his chapati, he’ll bring work, you have kids, make the tiffin. I’m like - Boss! It’s okay like if you want to do that for a few years to experience - do it. If you want to do it for your whole life - do it. If you just don’t want to do it, then don’t do it.”
When asked about her desire to experience marriage and her desire to have children, Kim revealed, “Tiffin for kids?” while shaking her head in disagreement. The actress stated that kids are not part of the plan while denying the desire to become a mother.
Consecutively, Kunikaa asked about the fear of being alone in the old age, if she didn’t want any children. Kim responded, “Babes, I want to see which children are pressing the feet of their parents in their old age. Like literally, there are such few kids who are there for their parents. Parents have given their whole lives to their kids, and when it's their time, the kids are like ‘Mummy I’m busy. I’m going out. Don’t tell me. Don’t ask me. My husband. My kids.’”
Kim expressed her insightful perspective that the parents are the gateway to a child’s life, and children’s lives are not transactions. “I will do this and you do this. I’m having you so I won't be lonely is a very warped way of bringing a person into this world," said Kim.
