Aditya Singh Rajput, who started his Bollywood career with a cameo in Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara and was later seen in Ajay Devgn’s U, ME AUR HUM, talks about his new film Krantiveer — The Revolution, co-stars and much more. How did Krantiveer happen?Director Mehul was hunting for the lead cast and I just happened to meet him two days before the mahurat of the film and was selected in the first meeting without a screen test and audition.
Tell us something about your role in Krantiveer...Krantiveer is my third movie and I’m playing the role of Goldie, a rich guy who falls in love with his college mate played by Jahan Baloch (the lead) but she loves someone else. Though he is not a brat, the character turns grey due to circumstances.
How was it working with Jahan Baloch?Working with Jahan was great. She is a wonderful actor and a very sweet person. We share good chemistry.
You started working as a teenager, so do you regret not completing your education?I really feel sad about this; I wish I could have studied further.
Do you think modeling opens doors to bollywood?I strongly believe that the advertising world is a door to Bollywood. Amrita Rao, Bipasha Basu are a few such examples. I never thought about films but modelling for ads and endorsements helped me enter Bollywood.
You have a modelling background; did you take any formal training before entering Bollywood?I did not take any acting classes but working with Anupam Kher and Urmila in ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara’ was a learning experience. I learnt a lot while working with such talented actors.
Who is a better director; Ajay Devgn or Mehul Kumar? Both of them are talented and good at their work. It was fun working with them. They are amazing and never pressurized me for anything.
What is your next move?I have a few good offers but they are still in the pipeline.
Do you want to try your hands on the small screen?Yes, I would like to work on the small screen, but daily soaps are a strict no-no. I’m always ready for reality shows.
