AIZAWL: The Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) or leaders of the conglomerate of Mizoram's churches on Monday condemned the controversial film The Da Vinci Code.
In a carefully drafted and strongly worded release issued here, the MKHC alleged that though Dan Brown's book was fiction, it was meant to confuse people, especially those whose Christian beliefs were not firm.

"The MKHC understands the feelings of those who opposed The Da Vinci Code and the film based on the book and supports those who urged the governments (Central and states) to ban the screening of the film," the release said.
The release also accused the author of committing "blasphemy by commercialising Christian beliefs and distorting Biblical facts".
However, it stopped short of urging the state government to ban the screening of the film.
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Central Mizoram's Serchhip district on Saturday issued an order banning the screening of the film within the district.
