Mithun Chakraborty's father breathed his last in Mumbai on Tuesday, but the veteran actor is currently stranded in Bengaluru owing to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.
Basanta Kumar Chakraborty, 95, reportedly died of renal failure after battling health problems for a while now.
Right now, the actor is trying to reach Mumbai to perform the last rites. He was in Bengaluru for a shoot.
His eldest son Mahakshay, also known as
Mimoh Chakraborty, is in Mumbai along with the rest of the family.
Basantakumar was a former employee at Calcutta Telephones while wife Santimoyee was a homemaker. They had four children, a son and three daughters. Mithun, whose real name is Gouranga Chakraborty, is the eldest among the four children.
For the unversed, Mithun made his acting debut with the art house drama Mrigayaa (1976), for which he won his first National Film Award for Best Actor. Soon, the actor starred in the film titled 'Disco Dancer' as Jimmy, which was commercially successful in India and the Soviet Union and Russia
