In 1996, Sunjay Kapur married Nandita Mahtani, a well-known socialite from Delhi. Nandita comes from a business family. Her brother Bharat Mahtani is a businessman, and his wedding back in 2010 was attended by Bollywood stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Karan Johar. Her sister Anu is married to billionaire Sanjay Hinduja.

Nandita and Sunjay’s marriage lasted four years. The couple split in 2000 when their divorce was finalised. This was before Sunjay’s much-publicised second marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor.

Nandita is more than just a socialite. She is a popular fashion designer in Mumbai and has worked with several celebrities. Since 2012, she has styled many Bollywood stars, but one of her most famous clients is cricketer Virat Kohli.

Speaking about him in a 2019 interview with ET Panache, Nandita said, “Virat has an impeccable style, which stems from his inherent strong personality. He prefers a sporty casual look, but he does enjoy an occasional dress up. His style is mostly refined and minimalistic.” Her stylish and elegant choices have made her a favourite in the fashion world, both in films and sports.




A glimpse into her love life
Apart from her work, Nandita’s love life has often been in the spotlight. As per Hindustan Times, in the early 2000s, she was in a relationship with actor Dino Morea. The two also co-founded a fashion brand called Playground together.

Later, Nandita was briefly linked to actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is Karisma Kapoor’s cousin. In a 2017 interview with The Quint, Ranbir had shared, “All I can say is that while growing up, I was infatuated with her. I found her beautiful, simple and warm, so unlike the socialite she is made out to be. We went out for dinners, it was nothing serious. Mum knew I had a crush on her.”

In 2017, Nandita got engaged to actor Vidyut Jammwal. The couple made their relationship public on Instagram with dreamy photos from a proposal at the Taj Mahal. But things didn’t last, and the two later went their separate ways.
Sunjay Kapur’s life after Nandita
After his divorce from Nandita, Sunjay married Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple had two children together — a daughter, Samaira, born on 11 March 2005, and a son, Kiaan, born on 12 March 2011. In 2014, they filed for divorce, which was finalised in 2016. Sunjay later married Priya Sachdev in 2017. The couple has a son named Azarias.
