MeToo movement: Salman Khan's ex-girlfriend Somy Ali recalls her sexual abuse ordeal as a child

Somy Ali made an entry in Bollywood only to meet Salman Khan and the two dated for close to eight years. The actress has now become a full time activist and runs an NGO in the United States for victims of abuse, majorly women. If one wonders why she took this route, the actress and model discloses why her organization is so close to her heart.

In the light of the Me Too movement that has hit the Bollywood industry, Somy talked about the time when she faced sexual abuse.She recalls that she was living in Pakistan at the time and she would always see signs of physical abuse amongst the older women. Then at the age of five, she suffered a horrific ordeal of sexual abuse at the hands of a house help. She believes that one can’t unfortunately escape it, but can at least remove the shame and stigma surrounding it so that victims can speak up.
