<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MUMBAI: Actress Manisha Koirala will enact the role of India''s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a Hindi feature film on the life and times of the leader.<br />The project was launched on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi at a function here on Tuesday night.<br />Titled <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Indira Gandhi -- A Tryst With Destiny</span>, the film is produced by Nittin Keni on behalf of the Maharani Padmini Devi Prathisthan headed by former MP Uttamsingh Pawar.<br />The film is being directed by N Chandra.
Scriptwriter Kamleshwar, who wrote the script for <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Aandhi</span>, has conceptualised the new project for which Hridyanath Mangeshkar will score the music.<br />Keni, who produced the highly successful <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Gadar</span> for ZEE, said, "The film is a biographical sketch of Indira Gandhi. We are not going to fictionalise it or exhibit any bias while making the film but there will be a strong emphasis on objectivity."<br />Keni said the movie was not the regular Bollywood potboiler and required a "very sensitive handling of the subject." <br />"Unlike Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and other pre-independence leaders, Indira Gandhi is a contemporary figure and evokes very strong feelings", he said.<br />"The film will concentrate not only on the political career of Indira but also her personal life", Keni said. </div> </div>
