Manish Gupta: Scam holds a mirror to the society while trying to educate and entertain

, can barely wait for the lockdown to get over. The filmmaker, who wrote the Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna-starrer, believes his next,

Scam

, which he has penned and will direct, is as important as his last venture.

Talking about it, Manish says, “Scam is about an economic offence. It’s in the same genre as Section 375. It’s set in the modern times and is a suspense-thriller. It holds a mirror to the society while trying to entertain and educate. I can’t wait to start filming because my cast is in place.” While Manish refuses to reveal the names, he says Scam has an ensemble cast of prolific actors who are great at what they do. “I don’t have a hero in my film. Each of the five characters is as important,” he says.


Manish had spent about four years, running between courtrooms and lawyers’ offices to nail the nuances of Section 375. Did he repeat the exercise with Scam, too? “Yes, I have spent almost the same amount of time going in and out of the office of the Economic Offences Wing and writing this film. The good part is that a lot of the research that I did for Section 375 has come in handy with this film,” says Manish.
