On Wednesday, actress
Dolly Bindra filed an FIR at Khar police station after noticing that a man in an SUV had been following her for over half an hour. The man, identified as Abdul Shaikh, was subsequently arrested.
“I was in
Bandra
for a wedding ceremony on Tuesday night. After I left the venue in my car, I noticed an SUV behind me at 1.40am. It followed me all the way from Bandstand to Khar, till I spotted a police nakabandi and complained about him to the cops, who detained him and later registered an FIR against him,” Bindra told.
The actress inmate went on to add that before stopping to complain, she tried to make sure if Shaikh was indeed following him. “I gave him space several times so that he could overtake me but he continued to tail my car. When I approached the cops and confronted him, he said he wasn’t following me. I insisted that the police check his car and records. I suspect something amiss and demand a thorough probe in the matter since there have been instances where I have been threatened,” the actress added.
Sanjay More, Senior Police Inspector, Khar Police station, said, “On the complaint, a case under section 354 (D) (
Stalking
) was registered by the police, the accused in the matter was arrested from the spot and he later secured bail.”
