Mahek Chahal: Delhi is old-world, Gurgaon is spunky and modern

Mahek Chahal, till a decade back, thought of Gurgaon as nothing more than a secluded place, but now loves to spend time here at her family home.

Whenever the actress comes to Delhi for work, she likes to spend time at her home in Gurgaon. “When I am in Gurgaon, I feel like I am in some foreign country. Delhi has an old-world charm, but Gurgaon is spunky and lively...it’s modern. With its Metro, Cyber Hub, the gleaming infrastructure and corporate culture, it is one of the best cities in the country,” she says.
But Mahek didn’t have the same opinion of the city about a decade-and-a-half ago. “When my father bought a house in Gurgaon some 15-16 years ago, I was like, ‘Why would you buy a home here? There’s no one in sight for a mile’. He had then said, ‘Twanu nahi pata, this area will become so popular in the coming time’. Well, my father turned out to be a visionary!” she exclaims.
