Mahaakshay aka Mimoh is busy these days with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). For the uninitiated, MMA is a full-contact combat sport thatincorporates a wide variety of fighting techniques which are usually used in competitions. “I am not going into any competition, though. I just needed a cardio class and came to know about this,” states Mithun’s Chakraborty’s son.
MMA is popularly known as cage fighting (which is banned) or ultimate fighting. We wonder why this pretty boy needed to get into this insanely violent sport. Mahaakshay confesses, “Yes, this is a completely brutal sport and I hurt myself (muscle soreness, shoulder dislocation, bleeding) everyday I practice. But I make sure that my face doesn’t get cuts and bruises. It is a tough sport and people run away when I tell them to try it; no one has the nerve to get into MMA.”
But we argue, why would any actor take up something that physically injures them, voluntarily? He is quick to reply, “You need to be an animal, you need to be insane to be able to do this. My trainer sees the animal instinct in me.”
The young actor has benefited from this rigorous form of exercise – he is fitter, stronger than before. “My stamina has increased and so has my recovery time. I can beat someone up and get beaten up and can deal with the pain much better. I really hate missing my MMA classes,” he smiles.
Mimoh is fight-ready, ready, we guess, to battle the reactions of his next film! He has to erase the bad memory of his debut movie from people’s minds.
