Madhuri Dixit turns 59 today, and fans are celebrating the timeless star who remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved performers. From iconic songs like 'Ek Do Teen', 'Dhak Dhak Karne Laga', and 'Dola Re Dola' to unforgettable films, Madhuri has left an enduring mark on Indian cinema. On her special day, ETimes revisits her heartfelt comments about marriage, motherhood, and the joy she found in raising a family.
Madhuri Dixit dream was to have children
Madhuri married Dr. Shriram Madhav Nene in 1999 and moved to the United States. The couple welcomed two sons, Arin Nene and Ryan Nene, and spent several years building a family life away from the spotlight. During an appearance on Kiska Brand Bajega, Madhuri shared, “For me, that was one of the dreams I had for myself. I’m going to have kids and that’s going to be fun.”
Madhuri Dixit loved her homemaker routine
In an earlier conversation on Rendezvous with
Simi Garewal, Madhuri spoke warmly about her daily life in the United States. “I used to make breakfast for my husband when he was in cardiovascular surgery. I used to wake up at 5:30, make breakfast for him, of course, he used to leave for work and I used to go back to sleep for some time. I savoured every minute of it.” The actress explained that she genuinely enjoyed this phase of her life. It remains one of her most relatable and cherished reflections.
Four Decades In Cinema
In 2024, Madhuri celebrated 40 years in the entertainment industry during a fan meet in the United States organized by
Shreya Gupta and Atique Sheikh. At the event, she looked back on her close association with Rajshri Productions and filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya. She recalled, "Rajshri Productions introduced me to the world of cinema. My first film, Abodh, was with them, and back then, Sooraj Barjatya was an assistant director who handled scene continuity. When Sooraj ji approached me with the script for Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, I was astonished by how much he had evolved. By then, he had already directed 'Maine Pyar Kiya'."
Released in 1994 and co-starring Salman Khan, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
Madhuri was last seen in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'.
