Madhur Bhandarkar, Ranvir Shorey, Rahul Dev mourn Tabassum’s demise; pen emotional notes

Veteran actress and talk show host Tabassum passed away yesterday due to a massive cardiac arrest. Her demise came as a rude shock to the film fraternity. Mourning her demise, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to his social media handle to pen an emotional note.

Rahul Dev too took to Twitter and wrote, “The original talk show host Indian television #TabassumGovil rests in peace....Her wit and laughter shall be missed ... #RIPTabassum #OmShanti”

Ranvir Shorey on the other hand wrote, “Oh no. Another invaluable piece of my childhood gone! ‘Phool Khile Hain Gulshan-Gulshan’ is the first celebrity chat show I remember, and the affable Tabassum ji was always such a delight to watch. May her soul rest in peace”.

Earlier, actress Asha Parekh spoke to exclusively to ETimes and shared that she has known Tabassum since she was a little kid and also revealed that she did her first film ‘
Baap Beti’ with her. “She was a wonderful person, very loving and I did my first film ‘Baap Beti’ with her, when she was a little kid. So I know her since that time.It’s very shocking that she left for the heavenly abode. I loved her. I should have gone and seen her once”.

Tabassum passed away at the age of 78. She was married to Vijay Govil, brother of popular TV star Arun Govil. She was the daughter of Asghari Begum and Ayodhyanath Sachdev. Over the years, she was able to make successful transitions from acting to radio to TV show host and even a successful YouTube career.
She hosted many iconic interviews with Bollywood and Indian TV personalities through her Doordarshan show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan which ran on air from 1972 to 1993.
