thiruvananthapuram: maqbul fida hussain's new-found love for kerala has resulted into his inducting a malayalam character and a malayali song in his new movie, do kadam aur sahi. the renowned malayalam poet and lyricist, o.n.v.kurup, will pen a number for the hussain film, it was agreed after the two met and discussed kerala's cultural identity. "mr.hussain seemed to be really turned on by kerala.
he is keen to learn more about the state and its people", mr.kurup said after he held a talk with mr.hussain. recently, many known and not-so-known malayali artists had questioned the tourism department's 'overzeal' in bringing artists from outside to paint kerala. mr.hussain has not reacted to it. mr.kurup too preferred to skip the debate. mr.hussain who scampered off to agra last month, leaving his work of painting kerala, to present the pak president parvez musharraf a painting, has resumed work. his expertise is being used to market 'god's own country', to overseas tourists. his series, said to be in 30 paintings, is titled kalyanikuttiyude keralam.
