Shruti Haasan is not daunted by the pressures of coming from a film family. PT reportsStar kid, rock star - terms that have been used to describe Shruti Haasan. And, she will finally make her Bollywood debut opposite Imran Khan in Luck this year. But, shes not the only star kid making her B-town entry: is Shruti feeling the heat of competition? I dont even know who the other debutantes are.
I dont feel the need to be compared with anybody.
The only person Im answerable to is myself. Im here to do my own thing, says Shruti.
Since she turned down many prominent offers before she accepted Luck, was she looking for the right kind of project as her launch vehicle? Theres no formula I was looking for when I was considering offers. Luck happened when I was ready to get into films and its worked for me. Ive known Imran for sometime now and working with him was thoroughly enjoyable, she adds.
Did Shruti always imagine herself following in her celeb parents footsteps, seeing that she studied music and not films? Coming from a family where movies play an integral role, becoming an actress was more of a sub-conscious decision than a conscious one, she laughs, Growing up in a film-oriented environment, I couldnt have said no to acting.
Is music her first love? Now, that Ive explored my skills in music, I want to move on to acting. I wouldnt mind fusing acting and singing. Since its already been done in Bollywood, it has to be something that makes sense and is worth it, points out Shruti.
And, what its like being the daughter of a legendary star like Kamal Haasan? There always will be a lot of speculation and expectations. But, I dont feel the pressure because Im focussed on what I have to do. Although Ive had the best advice and guidance from my parents, in the end my work and talent will speak. Ive learnt a lot from my dad and Im proud to be his daughter, states Shruti.
