Presenting Lucky Ali. Poet, Musician, Singer. His angst-filled voice with it earthy tang touched a chord in every Indian heart. Sunoh, Sifar and Aks, are albums treasured by every one of his die-hard fans. Having established his own soulful identity, Lucky is now exploring the very profession his father, Comedian Mehmood, mastered. Will he strike the right note here as well?Considering that Kaante is a big banner, don't you think it would have been a better debut than Sur?Lucky Ali: Not at all.
1x1 polls
Kaante is a commercial film but it is not one of those regular films. It is a special film in which both the Sunjus (Sanjay Gupta and Sunjay Dutt) put in their life and blood. I think they've achieved something good. If Indian films were made that way, with that kind of support system - man, wow! We'd make great films. How was it working with veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, Sunjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty?Lucky Ali: (laughs) Well, I treated them like veterans! Were you nervous when you had to do a scene with them?Lucky Ali: Man, I was shivering and I was shaking in my boots. But I felt so good working with them. I felt like I was working with my own people. What was your first scene with Amitabh Bachchan?Lucky Ali: I don't remember. I mean, everybody has a special role in the film, but I don't remember because there were so many things happening during the 45-day schedule that the film was shot in.Do you remember any special incident on the sets of Kaante?Lucky Ali: Oh it was great on the sets. All the people involved in it were just one lovely bunch. We were always laughing. I love having a good laugh. It was the same with Sur as well as Kaante. In Sur the girls were so normal, it was amazing. They were doing a very responsible thing, and yet keeping a light vibe about the whole thing. It was very pleasurable. I would recommend that as a therapy to anyone, anytime. It was a very special place to be in. Kaante too had its own therapeutic value, if I can call it that. Because each character made you think about aspects, about nuances, etc. And you keep questioning and that's how you grow and evolve. It was a good experience.Do you have any other films on hand right now besides Sur and Kaante?Lucky Ali: None, but I do have a lot of offers coming in.Are you being cautious while selecting films?Lucky Ali: (laughs) I haven't been in the industry long enough to know what's good enough! What are your future plans? A film or an album?Lucky Ali: I'll do what comes naturally next.
