doweshowbellyad=0; Sudipta Banerjee (TOI Photo) I always cherised this dream of becoming an actor someday. My first break came when I was in Class IX. I attended an audition in 2004, held by a private Bengali channel and got selected for a cameo in the megaserial, Ekak Dashak Shatak, directed by Milan Roy Choudhury. There was a long queue and more than 4,000 people had turned up for the audition.
I had to wait really long for my turn. The role I bagged was a really small one and I shot for just three days. Being a complete novice in this field, I was nothing but a bundle of nerves on the first day of the shoot. I was extremely tense and forgot my dialogues.
There were nine retakes before the shot got okayed finally. Milanda (Roy Choudhury) and actor Kalyani Mondal (also part of the mega) helped me get over my nervousness. Actor Kharaj Mukherjee was acting opposite me and he had some dialogues. I had to take the cue from there and then deliver mine. But I never seemed to get the dialogues right. After that, I took a break from acting for about four years to pursue my studies. Then one fine day, suddenly Ravi Ojha gave me a call and offered me Bindus role in Khela. I grabbed the offer instantly. Initially, I did have some difficulties with the dialogues since the character I was supposed to essay, was a really complicated one. But once I got under the skin of the character, things became easy.
