Indian pop icon Usha Uthup's husband, Jani Chacko Uthup, passed away in Kolkata on Monday, according to their family.
Jani, 78, reportedly experienced discomfort while watching TV at their home. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The cause of death was a massive cardiac arrest.
Jani Chacko Uthup, Usha Uthup's second husband, was involved in the tea plantation sector. The couple first met in the early '70s at the iconic Trincas. Reportedly, the last rites will be performed on July 9. People close to Usha Uthup and family have been sending their condolences to the singer, praying that God bless the near and dear ones to endure the pain of the grave loss.
Besides Usha, he was survived by a son and a daughter.
