The entire nation woke up to the sad and shocking news of
Lata Mangeshkar passing away. The veteran singer left for her heavenly abode at 8.12 am on Sunday. Her mortal remains to be taken to for people to pay homage. Her sister Usha Mangeshkar confirmed the news.
Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, told ANI, "It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID19."
As soon as the news broke, Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to share mourn the loss of the legend.

Coronavirus earlier in January. She was on the ventilator for weeks but then on January 28, she was taken off the ventilator as she showed signs of improvement. Unfortunately, again her health condition has deteriorated, and she has been put back on the ventilator under the close observation of the doctors.
Several high-profile personalities have visited the hospital including Union Minister Piyush Goyal, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, and NCP leader Supriya Sule to check on the singer.
She was the oldest of the siblings, Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
