Kumar Sanu pays tribute to late Dharmendra, sings ‘Trinetra’ song in his honour
Renowned playback singer Kumar Sanu paid a heartfelt tribute to the late legendary actor Dharmendra. The iconic singer honoured the veteran star with a soulful rendition of the classic track ‘Main Tujhe Chhod Ke’, which he originally lent his voice to sang for the 1991 film ‘Trinetra’, directed by Harry Baweja.
Marking Dharmendra’s 90th birthday, Kumar shared a nostalgic video clip on Instagram showcasing scenes of the veteran actor with Deepa Sahi. “My heart carries a deep mix of sadness and warmth today. Dharam Ji, you were not just a star — you were an eternal legend whose light will never dim. I feel truly blessed that I once had the honour of lending my voice to your unforgettable presence on screen. That memory will stay with me forever. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Sir,” Kumar Sanu wrote.
Trinetra, featuring Mithun Chakraborty and Shilpa Shirodkar in pivotal roles, unfolds a dramatic tale of love, loss and revenge. The story centres on Raja’s brutal murder by Singhania, witnessed by his pregnant wife, Seema. Driven by grief and a burning desire for justice, Seema’s quest for vengeance takes an unexpected turn, leading to her imprisonment for murder.
Dharmendra, the legendary icon of Indian cinema, passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. Renowned for his irresistible charm and powerful performances, his remarkable career spanned over six decades. With more than 300 films to his credit, he remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated and successful stars.
The veteran actor made his debut in 1960 with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. He first gained popularity in the mid-1960s for films such as ‘Ayee Milan Ki Bela’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, and ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’. He starred in several successful Hindi films from the late-1960s to the 1980s, such as ‘Ankhen’, ‘Shikar’, ‘Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke’, ‘Jeevan Mrityu’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Raja Jani’, ‘Jugnu’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Dost’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Pratiggya’, ‘Charas’, ‘Dharam Veer’, ‘Chacha Bhatija’, ‘Ghulami’, ‘Hukumat’, ‘Aag Hi Aag’, ‘Elaan-E-Jung’, ‘Tahalka’, ‘Anpadh’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Haqeeqat’, ‘Anupama’, ‘Mamta’, ‘Majhli Didi’, ‘Satyakam’, ‘Naya Zamana’, ‘Samadhi’, ‘Resham Ki Dori’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Dillagi’, ‘The Burning Train’, ‘Ghazab’, ‘Do Dishayen’ and ‘Hathyar’.
Dharmendra’s final appearance will come in the upcoming war drama ‘Ikkis’, helmed by Sriram Raghavan. Starring Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, the film narrates the inspiring story of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest soldier to receive the Param Vir Chakra. Featuring Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in significant roles, ‘Ikkis’ is slated for a December release.
