Konkona Sen Sharma gears up to direct a film

Like mother like daughter! Following in Aparna Sen's footsteps, actress Konkona Sen Sharma is getting ready to take the plunge as a director, CT has learnt.

Though the project is a closely guarded secret, sources told us that the film will be multi-lingual with the script and story penned by Konkona herself. Konkona, a National Award-winning actress for Mr and Mrs Iyer, will not act in the film though.Our source tells us that since this will be her debut project, she wants to concentrate on just direction. Konkona is known as an accomplished writer in her close circle and we've been told that her first directorial project has been in the pipeline for some years now. In fact, she had earlier wanted to make a short film before getting involved in a full-length feature, but that plan of action seems to have been shelved for now.
Whether Aparna Sen will be involved in Koko's film hasn't been decided yet. Konkona has revealed to her close associates that if the need arises, she expects her mother to guide her. "She has always been there for me, professionally or personally. So she will definitely be there if I need her," she was heard saying.
