Kirsten Dunst is to make her directorial debut this summer. The 25-year-old will helm a ghost story she is writing herself, based on a letter sent to a magazine by a reader. Kirsten says, "I’m directing my first short this summer. It’s a ghost story. They’re totally giving me carte blanche. I pick the letter. I write my script. I pick everyone I want to collaborate with, it’s great." The film will be part of a project run by the magazine which showcases short films made by women based on readers’ stories.
Previous contributors include Jennifer Aniston and Robin Wright Penn. Kirsten, who has been acting since she was seven-years-old and recently enrolled at an art school, is aiming high with her latest venture. She adds, "I’ve always been a fan of Roman Polanski and, Repulsion with Catherine Deneuve and Rosemary’s Baby. We just don’t make movies like that any more."
