Romance may not be new to Indian cinema, but a modern-day fairy tale certainly is and that’s what the makers of Khoobsurat, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, are pinning their bets on.
Disney’s first film in India, this romantic comedy, is toplined by Sonam Kapoor and Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan. While Sonam essays the role of the effervescent Milli, an endearing misfit in a royal setting, Fawad plays a prince.

Says Amrita Pandey, VP and Head of Marketing and Distribution, Studios, Disney India, “Sonam embodies the character with such ease and panache that it makes this fairy tale come to life.” Adds Sonam’s younger sister and co-producer Rhea Kapoor, “The movie is a magical love story between two completely different people. It’s a feel-good entertainer that will take you through a roller coaster of emotions.”
Khoobsurat, produced by Walt Disney Pictures in association with Anil Kapoor Film Company, releases September 19.
