You are yet to leave a mark In Bollywood...I think it has to do with my looks and identity. I say no to a lot of projects too. Directors have told me that people have to write you in. But I will be doing Manis next couple of films and am working towards international cinema.
You seem to have a negative fascination?May be thats why Im working less.
Ive been trying to get films that offer me the lead antagonists role.
How important is it for you to make it in Bollywood? It isnt necessarily Bollywood. I got the odd Telugu film offer at a time when I wanted to make my mark as a negative actor.
You once said that you had no pretensions of being an SRK or Amitabh Bachchan.
I mustve meant intention. I respect both. When in their company, I shut my mouth and absorb whatever I can. I dont aspire to become what they have become. Im not going to be an icon of Indian cinema like AB. And Im never going to get SRKs kind of adulation because Ive never cared for adulation. Im a realist; a simple guy. I appreciate my fans acknowledging me in a simple way without losing themselves.
You were vocal about the Tibet issue. How about other social issues?I speak my mind about issues I believe in. Im apolitical and guided by Buddhist principles and the spirituality that Im learning from the Art of Living. I champion all sorts of things but I dont intend to add a glamour quotient to what I do. Ive my style and if people consider it to be glamourous, its their take. My actions are with a purity of heart with no intentions of being manipulative..
So, how do you react to the Lara-Dino link-up rumours? Those who are interested in the matter and having been reading the entertainment news form their own judgement of it. But I never had any comments on my personal life. Maybe someday, I will voice my feelings. Not now.
