Give him any character, and you can trust Kay Kay Menon to portray it in the best possible manner. But the versatile actor, who has been a part of films like Black Friday, Life in a...Metro, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Sarkar and Shaurya, doesn’t believe in preparing for a role. “Preparing for roles sounds so academic, doesn’t it? It feels as if you are preparing for an examination! In a creative medium, the preparation is of an entirely different kind, and for me, the ideas flow from the script itself.
Unless it is absolutely essential, I don’t believe in spending weeks outside to pick up a few mannerisms.”
Soon, he will be seen in Bhindi Baazaar, where he plays the kingpin of a crime syndicate. “It’s pretty much akin to a game of chess, where every player wants to become the boss. It’s an exciting thriller and I am looking forward to the release.” says Menon.
The actor also shares that cinema is the medium that he enjoys the most. “It’s difficult to explain in words, but I enjoy doing films more than theatre. It helps me in experiencing moments of truth and I can write an entire thesis on my love for the medium! Only, I wish our industry would churn out lesser number of trash films in the coming days, which become runaway hits sometimes! It’s a real tragedy and shame, and that’s why I don’t care about box-office success anymore. That can’t be the benchmark for judging the quality of a film.” he signs off.
