Three directors have raised eyebrows in Kollywood by claiming that the spirit of late veteran lyricist Kannadasan has written a song for their upcoming film.
Kollywoods been witness to several strange claims but what the directors of the film Eraaa (read as Ra) claimed on Thursday certainly left several mediapersons speechless. If the directors of the film are to be believed, the spirit of ace lyricist Kaviyarasu Kannadasan, who passed away several years back, has penned a song for the film that deals with the issue of existence of spirits.
The story, written and jointly directed by Hari Shankar, Hareesh Narayan and Krishna Sekhar, deals with the issue of paranormal activity. As the story goes, Nakul, a paranormal investigator visits a house, believed to be haunted, to prove the existence of spirits. He is found dead the next day. A television reporter, Daisy, investigates his death and attempts to bring the truth to light.
Addressing mediapersons, the trio said that the film had elements for those who believed and those who did not believe in the existence of spirits. The one-and-a-half hour movie is like reading a visual novel, said Hareesh Narayan. Replying to a question on how they had managed to interact with the spirit of the ace poet and lyricist, the directors said that they had done so with the help of C M Rathnasamy, who, they claimed had vast experience in interacting with spirits.
For his part, Rathnasamy, who was present on the occasion, claimed that the song was penned through a technique called auto-writing. The spirit of the ace lyricist wanted us to perform Annadanam (serve free meals) to seven poor people before it gave us the lyrics, he disclosed. When asked if they had informed the poets relatives about their decision to use his song in their film, the directors said that they had not informed them in person and that they were informing them through the media. To a question on when the interaction with the spirit had taken place, director Krishna Shekar said that it had occurred on September 27. The directors of the movie also claimed that Eraaa was the first triple director venture in Kollywood. The movie, which is to be released by the end of the year, stars Sathish, Heventhika, Asha, Indhra and Ajai among others. Music for the movie has been composed by Venkat Prabu Shankar.
