Kavita Seth is set to perform at a tribute show in Mumbai on
August 3. It will be organised in the memory of the late legendary poet Gopaldas
Neeraj, who passed away last month. Seth will take the stage alongside a group of poets, Gang Sisters, who will recite the legends’ works.
Seth, who is known to be a Sufi music aficionado, will reinterpret Neeraj’s popular poems like 'Ussko Bhi Apnata Chal' and 'Aisa De Do Dard Mujhe Tum, Mera Geet Diya Ban Jaaye' with a Sufi touch.
When contacted, the singer said, “I was shocked when I heard that Gopaldas ji is no more. He was a wonderful soul and an inspiration for me. His Urdu poetry is unparalleled. I’m looking forward to paying tribute to him.”
The 93-year-old poet passed away with on July 19 post suffering a lung infection. Several of his poems and songs have been used in Hindi movies . 'Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo' from Raj Kapoor's iconic film Mera Naam Joker is among his most remembered works.
