Karni Sena leader sent to judicial custody till Monday

was sent to judicial custody on Friday afternoon. He will remain in the custody till Monday, said DCP (headquarters) Deepak Gahlwat.

At around 1.15pm on Friday, Amu was sent to 3 days of judicial custody till January 29. Till then he will remain at Bhondsi prison. His supporters may apply for bail on Monday. If the bail application is rejected by the sessions court or the same is not applied, then DCP (headquarters) Deepak Gahlawat will decide whether to extend the custody or not.

Amu (51) was arrested as preventive action by Gurugram cops at around 5pm on Thursday. He was detained from his residential society on MG Road. A team of around 7 cops, headed by

(DLF) Anil Kumar reached Amu’s residence at around 4:50pm. Initially, he resisted the arrest and even threatened the cops of dire consequences, reveal sources. However, the ACP initiated the arrest and Amu was now booked under sections 107 (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquility of an area) and 151 (arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences) CrPC.

Amu was in news recently after he announced a reward of Rs 10 crores for beheading the film’s protagonist Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Amu protested against the release of the film in Gurugram and Haryana and was suspended from BJP for the same reasons by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

He got into the CM’s bad books on Thursday when despite Khattar’s call, Amu didn’t refrain from seeking attention on the issue considering Haryana is a BJP ruled state and the violence was affecting the party’s image. On Thursday morning, he announced that he will visit cinema halls in Gurugram and will distribute flowers to the viewers.

However, he was warned against this by the security agencies and was warned that he might be detained for this. At this he announced that he will go to NOIDA instead. Later in the day, he called a news channel’s OB Van to the society where he lived. Taking abundant caution, cops arrested him to avoid any unrest as the security agencies sensed that he could give instigating speeches detrimental to law and order and make situation worse in Gurugram.
