There has been buzz that a sequel to
Crew is on the cards. As per reports,
Kareena Kapoor Khan will reprise her role in
Crew 2, while it is unclear whether Kriti Sanon and Tabu will return for the second instalment. The film was produced by
Rhea Kapoor for her father Anil Kapoor’s banner. Clearing the air, in a statement to BT, the production house said, “What the future holds, any news about the next chapter of AKFCN (Anil Kapoor Film and Communication Network), including where the world of
Crew goes from here and the stories yet to come, will be shared by us in due course, when the time – and the stories – are ready.”
The original heist-comedy, directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, also featured Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles. The chemistry between the three leading ladies—Kareena, Tabu and Kriti—was widely appreciated and became one of the strongest talking points of the film. For now, the makers are playing it safe, neither confirming nor denying the sequel buzz.
In an earlier interview, Kareena admitted that she wants a sequel to
Crew. "If there’s one film that deserves a sequel, it is
Crew, because I think it was such a refreshing take on women standing their own, using their mind, standing for their rights, in a very fun kind of way. It wasn’t preaching anything. It is film, it is entertainment. And that’s why I think the film did well," she said back then in an interview.
