Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan’s debut film Refugee was a much-awaited film -- so what if it failed to create ripples at the box-office?

Four years down the line, as the two prepare for the release of Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, the excitement has reached fever pitch.
And this time round, the duo has the added advantage of having Hrithik Roshan in the picture.

Two young men, one woman... is Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon another run-of-the-mill love triangle? ‘‘Of course not,’’ maintains Bachchan Jr, ‘‘Soorajji has approached the topic of three young people in love in his own inimitable way.’’

Kareena aka Bebo, on her part, feels that the movie is a love story unlike any other. ‘‘Sanjana -- my character -- has to choose between practicality and sentimentality. What decision does she finally take? Is it the right one? These are the issues the movie deals with. Sanjana is intelligent and sensitive -- I identify with her to a great extent.’’

Abhishek, in turn, chooses to describe his reel character Prem as being dignified and reticent. ‘‘He is a shy guy and a workaholic.’’ Both, however, fight shy of calling their roles as author-backed ones since ‘‘each character in the movie represents Soorajji’s point of view and is equally important.’’

If Abhishek has seven films lined up for release this year, Kareena has signed on the dotted line for Deepa Mehta and Govind Nihalani. ‘‘Each and every film is important,’’ feels Abhishek, who does not ‘‘prioritise his films.’’ Kareena feels that ‘‘talent always triumphs’’ even though her past few releases ‘‘have not been successful.’’

So, will Kareena and Abhishek be able to wipe the slate clean and begin afresh with Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon? Ironically, it’s not the stars themselves but the box-office which holds all the answers.
